Therapy Dog

Home Up History Breed Standard Events! SWD Health Grooming the SWD Breeders Membership Officers

The Spanish Water Dog is a naturally aloof dog, designed for dedication to its owner. However, several owners have spent a great deal of time with their extraordinary dogs to certify them as Therapy or Emotional Support dogs.

Most major metropolitan areas and many hospitals have private therapy dog certifications. If you are interested in working with your SWD in therapy, ask your local trainer, library or hospital for local programs. Many people begin their training by passing the Canine Good Citizen test, an AKC test open to dogs of all breeding. For a listing of qualified local CGC evaluators, contact the American Kennel Club.

Congratulations to club members

Gina Lynch and Kryssie (Bemilosa de J.Macelia, TDI) for passing the

Therapy Dog International test!

There are two major national U.S. therapy dog programs:

    TDI (Therapy Dog International)

    Delta Society
