SWDCA Versatility Award Program
The Versatility Award is intended to recognize Spanish Water Dogs that have demonstrated varying levels of success in a broad spectrum of canine venues, and including historical function.

Spanish Water Dogs in Action

The Spanish Water Dog is a dog happiest when working. It was bred in the Spanish countryside by hard-working folk for whom single-function dogs were impractical. The SWD developed into a dog that performed a variety of tasks:

• Herding
• Hunting
• Fisherman's assistant
• Vermin control in the mines
• Protection of persons, livestock and property

Today, the Spanish Water Dog is primarily a companion dog, but it has not lost its will to work. SWDs can be found in many active venues and competitions:
